Background
The XJ-S faced an incredibly tough path to victory, conceived as it was during a time of great corporate instability, and intended as it was to replace a model even the curmudgeonly Enzo Ferrari called “the prettiest car ever made.”
Succeed it did however, with greater than 125,000 built over a 22-year run, during which it remained a hotly desired symbol of taste and wealth throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, ensuring Jaguar’s survival into the 21st century.
