According to the Data Card and accompanying factory service manual, this stunningly finished ’71 280SL was purchased new by Mrs. Wallace, a resident of the affluent hamlet of Montecito, CA, which is a secluded suburb of Santa Barbara known for its luxurious estates, breathtaking landscapes, and a vibrant motoring community since the advent of the automobile. Her beachfront address, next-door to the renowned Miramar Hotel (founded in 1957 and now a 5-Star Rosewood) must have provided the perfect backdrop for such a stunning automobile, nestled comfortably at the horizon where the azure Pacific and blue sky beyond meld together.

The car has stayed in the Santa Barbara area ever since and is now being offered by the consigning dealer with a clear CA title in the seller’s name accompanied by the factory literature, tools, and trunk-mounted spare tire.
