Background
Launched in 1990, the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy was a development of the Softtail of 1984. Made famous by its appearance in a number of films including two of the Terminator series, the Fat Boy is said to have taken its design inspiration from the legendary B-29 bomber.
This iconic (and now collectable) motorcycle is powered by a thumping twin-cam V-Twin engine with a capacity of 1340cc engine - or 82 cubic inches if you prefer good old-fashioned imperial sizes. It pushes its 58bhp to the rear wheel via a five-speed gearbox and the brave will find that it’ll just about top the ton. The prudent however, will take a more relaxed approach to their riding and appreciate its relaxed, effortless cruising gait; if you want sonic acceleration and a three-figure top speed, then a Fat Boy ain’t for you.
An Old School cruising motorcycle, the Fat Boy features a hidden rear swingarm and twin dampers. The design, engineered to resemble the company’s classic hardtail models, makes it much more comfortable than its looks would have you believe.
The Harley-Davidson Fat Boy also offers its owners the opportunity to tune its looks and performance to suit their individual needs, which is exactly what this owner has done.
