Background
Built as a special edition of the much-loved Alfa Romeo GTV to commemorate the single-make Alfa GTV Cup race series, a total of 419 Alfa Romeo GTV Cup cars were built, split between 264 Left-hand-drive and 155 right-hand-drive models. This makes the RHD models in particular very rare and desirable, especially considering they were all fitted with the 3.0-litre 24v V6 engine.
Benefitting from a number of upgrades over the standard GTVs, all of the changes were purely cosmetic in nature, as the GTV Cup cars retained standard running gear.
The Pininfarina-styled bodywork remained largely the same, but was differentiated by the addition of a more aggressive bodykit, which included front and rear spoilers, side skirts and vents in the front wing, behind the wheel arch. In addition to the kit, this limited-edition model also gained a set of 17-inch ‘telephone dial’ alloys.
Each car is numbered individually, and signified via a plaque on the dash. With only 155 made in RHD format, this is a rare opportunity to get your hands on a genuine GTV cup car with the steering wheel on the ‘correct’ side.
