PLEASE NOTE THAT AN AUCTION PREMIUM WILL BE CHARGED, ON TOP OF THE HAMMER PRICE, OF 5% (+VAT IN UK AND EUROPE). FROM 16TH JAN'23 THIS APPLIES TO ALL AUCTIONS ON THE MARKET, AND FEES ARE MIN €720 / MAX €7,200.

The Silver Spur was a longer-wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit, the first model in Rolls-Royce’s SZ series, and was in production from 1981 to 1999.

Along with the other models in the SZ series, the Silver Spur was one of the last Crewe-built Rolls-Royces with truly British DNA running through it. The next generations of the ‘The World’s Best Car’ would be built by BMW in a new facility at Goodwood, England.

It featured Rolls-Royce’s familiar four-door monocoque bodyshell, a smooth and powerful 6750cc V8 engine allied to four-speed automatic transmission, all-round independent suspension, adaptive ride control, power steering and four-wheel disc brakes with ABS.

It was the first Rolls-Royce to feature a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy mascot.

The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur III Touring Limousine was manufactured between 1994 and 1995.

Only 36 examples of this stretched, Mulliner Park Ward coach-built limousine were ever constructed, with just 22 in LHD configuration.

This, then, is a particularly rare Rolls-Royce.

Overview

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 10% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer. If exporting immediately to another country, then tax/duty will only be paid in that country.

The winning bidder will pay €500 customs charge on top of the ‘hammer’ price.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display in the Middle East for a number of years and the only history or paperwork available is displayed in the photo gallery. In all cases the papers shown are photocopies unless otherwise stated. We do not have the original paperwork.

Unless otherwise stated, we have not tried to start or drive the car and cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. The car is not registered anywhere.

It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

As CARS Europe BV is the guarantor of all customs duties and taxes for vehicles within Dutch customs bond, the car cannot be released until full payment received.

All storage charges (€30 + local VAT per day commencing from the sixth day following the auction end) must be paid in full prior to the vehicle’s collection or onward transportation. Collection and viewings are strictly by appointment only.

Please send an email to the storage centre to ensure vehicle(s) are ready at time of collection. Photographic ID will be required at time of collection. If a third party is collecting for you, then written authorisation is required in advance from you and photographic ID of the third party is required at the time of collection.

CARS Europe BV will contact you after the balance payment is received to confirm onward transport requirements. For enquiries about import tax and shipping contact Madam Joanna Herlihy, +31 (0) 252 682 526, +44 7483 433912, joanna@carseurope.net.

VIN: SCAZW02COSCX80135.

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, this 1995 LHD auto Rolls-Royce Silver Spur III Touring Limousine by Mulliner Park Ward comes with no history or service records beyond whatever is shown in the documents section.

It has 72,282 kms on its odometer.

It was bought for the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles in 2013.

We haven’t started or driven the car, so our appraisal of it is entirely based on its cosmetic appearance.

Exterior

In general, and as is often the case with cars that were bought new for the Japanese market, the car’s general condition is really very good and the vehicle has clearly been looked-after pretty well during its long life.

The body work is largely devoid of any dents or creases worth mentioning and the blue paintwork, too, is broadly decent.

There are one or two small scuffs and paint chips on the passenger-side doors and a small dink on the door beneath the wing mirror on the same side.

There is a scratch on the bonnet, a few more on the driver’s-side front wing and some scuffs on the driver’s door.

The driver’s-side wiper blade is missing – but you’ll find it in the boot.

The chrome work and wheels are all decent, as is the badging, trim and most exterior fixtures and fittings.

Interior

The vast interior of this car is also really rather impressive.

The blue leather upholstery is very good and even the driver’s seat is barely showing any signs of use or wear.

The carpets, mats, headlining and door cards are all good.

So, too, are the wood veneers on the door cappings and dashboard.

The glass division looks to be in decent order.

There are one or two cracks to the lacquer on the rear picnic tables and central TV/entertainment console.

Even the curtains look to be in good condition.

The condition of the boot is consistent with the rest of it.

We can’t make any claims about the functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t started or driven the car.

Mechanical

The clean, dry engine and engine bay look fine and the undersides of the car appear to have plenty of structural integrity.

History

This car comes with no history but it does have some service records……written in Japanese. From the dates shown we’ve deduced that these records cover the car’s maintenance from 2005.

That said, our command of the Japanese language is somewhat limited and we may be entirely wrong.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.

No documents shown in the gallery in any way constitute any kind of licensing or registration certification unless otherwise stated.

Summary

This massive, magnificent and masterful Rolls-Royce Silver Spur III Touring Limousine seems to us to be in first-class overall condition - provided, of course, that the engine, electrics and mechanicals are amenable to recommissioning and as good as the rest of it.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of €25,000 - €35,000.
