2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 9% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display for a number of years and the documented history available is limited to that displayed in our photography section.

The car has no fuel or a battery, so we have not tried to drive it, so we cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

As CARS Europe BV is the guarantor of all customs duties and taxes for vehicles within Dutch customs bond, the car cannot be released to the buyer or transporter immediately after the sale. For all enquiries relating to Customs, please contact CARS Europe BV.

Purchases will only be released once cleared funds are received. All vehicles must be collected after the payment of funds. All storage charges must be paid in full prior to the vehicle’s collection or onward transportation.

Storage charges payment must be arranged with the storage company. Collection is strictly by appointment only.

Please send a booking email to the storage centre to ensure vehicle(s) are ready at time of collection. Photographic ID will be required at time of collection. If a third party is collecting for you, then written authorisation is required in advance from you and photographic ID of the third party is required at the time of collection. Collection either by buyer or third party is only possible for vehicles within customs bond if applicable import taxes paid are paid to import into country of bonded storage location.

As soon as The Market by Bonhams receives your payment, the accounts department will send a release note to the manager of the storage facility where your car(s) is stored.

This 2013 Rolls-Royce Phantom is a LHD, auto, limited-edition Phantom Silver from Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke Collection. These ultra-exclusive cars were built to commemorate the centenary of the Silver Ghost’s legendary record-breaking endurance run of 14,371 miles in 1907.

Only 25 were ever made.

The car’s odometer is showing just 296 km.

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, the car comes with no history or service records.

We understand from a few accompanying documents that the car was delivered new to the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles in 2012.

With the proviso that we haven’t tried to drive this vehicle and can therefore only comment on its cosmetic condition, we think this 2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Silver Edition is effectively a brand-new car with only delivery kilometres to show for its 14 years of life.

The bodywork is pretty much pristine.

The panels are straight and even, the bodywork is free of any flaws that we can see, and the panel gaps and shut lines seem entirely consistent and even.

The unique Xirallic ‘Ghost Silver’ paintwork has retained all of its shine and lustre.

The chrome and exterior trim are in excellent condition, as are the lights, lenses, badging and all exterior fixtures and fittings.

The wheels are unmarked and seemingly untroubled either by time or use.

It’s really very hard to find anything to criticise.

The interior is in the same immaculate condition as the exterior.

All of it was designed to leave the owners and passengers of the time in no doubt that they were in something very special indeed.

And it’s still extremely impressive today.

The wood veneers on the dashboard, door cappings and various inserts are rich and glossy.

The carpets are deep enough to keep your ankles warm.

The metres of soft cream-coloured leather are sumptuous, inviting and appear to be entirely without any signs of wear or use. The seats, front and back, are uncreased and in what appears to be immaculate condition.

Like everything else in here, the door cards, curtains and headlining are all as good as new.

The umbrellas that should be inside the doors are still present.

All the Rolls-Royce (and BMW) toggles, stops, levers, switches and buttons are as shiny and classy as the day the engineers at Goodwood installed them (we can’t make any claims about their functionality as we haven’t tried to start or drive the vehicle).

There’s nothing so vulgar as a rev counter. Instead, the Phantom has a ‘Power Reserve’ meter. It does the same thing, only differently.

Our only real complaint? The carpets need cleaning.

The undersides look as if they belong to a car that’s only covered 196km and has spent its entire life kept warm and dry inside.

Everything in the engine bay is in its right and proper place.

This car doesn’t come with any history or service records.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.

None of the paperwork shown in the gallery in any way constitutes any kind of licensing or registration certification.

The Phantom VII was a very important car for Rolls-Royce. New owners BMW stopped at nothing to create an automotive experience that had the dynamic abilities and engineering integrity to match its unrestrained, bespoke opulence.

We think this time-warp condition example is as close as you can get to a brand-new Phantom – but without the brand-new Phantom price.

We’re struggling to imagine how any of the 24 other Silver Edition Phantoms could be in better condition than this one.

Provided, of course, that the engine, electrics and mechanicals are as good as the rest of the car.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of €80,000 - €120,000.
