Background

Based on the jaw dropping Range Stormer concept of 2004, which was designed by Richard Woolley it was a show stopper grabbing the front pages of every car magazine. The production car was little changed in looks although it lost the gull wing doors, and became a huge success for Land Rover, bringing the luxury of the Range Rover to a more usable mid size SUV. It was more conveniently sized but still had all the off road capability expected of a Land Rover product, and the opulence of a Range Rover.

Overview

This Range Rover Sport is near immaculate, with only 50,000 miles on the clock and service and MOT records showing it has covered just a couple of thousand miles a year recently, so it has spotless panels and a pristine interior, backed up by a full service history and receipts for additional maintenance when required.

It was supplied by Stratstone Land Rover in Stourbridge, delivered to the customer on the 27th of March 2008 who gave it the first service before moving to regular visits to another garage, and incredibly remained with that original owner until 2020, so there are only 2 keepers on the logbook.

Exterior

Looking almost like it could have rolled out of the dealership a few weeks ago, the car has no dings in the panels, the silver paint has a deep shine with virtually no stone chips and the lights are bright and clear. Open the doors, bonnet and tailgate and the shuts are as clean and fresh as the exterior. It has factory side steps which are not scuffed, privacy glass and chrome accents on the door handles and wing air intake grills, as well as factory fog lights in the front bumper. It has black Khan edition alloy wheels which are unmarked and the tyres have deep tread.

Looking for faults, there is a mark on the top of the rear bumper from the tailgate edge but little else to report.

Interior

Inside, like the outside, the Range Rover is all black and silver. Black carpets are unmarked, only the drivers door kick plate has some scuffs. The black leather seats are in excellent condition overall, with relatively low miles driven in the car they have had little opportunity to wear, so there is just a little sign of use on the drivers seat leather, the others barely look sat in and the leather steering wheel has not been scratched or marked.

Being and HSE, the equipment level is high with electric seats, cruise control, a colour screen sat nav and Harmon Kardon audio among many other items on the spec sheet.

Mechanical

The underside of the car has just been professionally rust proofed at a cost of £450, looking underneath shows a good coating of black under seal protecting the chassis, while earlier this year over £2000 was spent on various jobs, replacing the EGR valve, anti roll bar, stabiliser link and lower wishbones.

It has Brembo brakes fitted, the callipers visible through the spokes of the alloys.

History

The service book and receipts show the car has been well cared for with regular maintenance and sparing use. It has juts had some money spent on it with the timing belt and tensioners being replaced in October this year not long after the suspension maintenance mentioned above.

Front brake disks and pads were changed in October 2018 at 44,000 miles, just 6000 miles ago.

Summary

If you are in the market for a Range Rover Sport, you would struggle to find a better example. Low miles and good history look good on paper, but looking around the car backs that up. The paint and panels are near flawless and the interior looks little used, this has to be one of the best around.

Our estimate for this car is £12,000 - £16,000.
