Background

Based on the jaw dropping Range Stormer concept of 2004, which was designed by Richard Woolley it was a show stopper grabbing the front pages of every car magazine. The production car was little changed in looks although it lost the gull wing doors, and became a huge success for Land Rover, bringing the luxury of the Range Rover to a more usable mid size SUV. It was more conveniently sized but still had all the off road capability expected of a Land Rover product, and the opulence of a Range Rover.

Overview

This is an interesting example of the Sport, which is offered from the trade. The original owner has specced he car very highly, making what would have been an incredibly expensive car with all the options they wanted, including an unusual silver, we think may be called ‘Arctic Frost’, soft leather and very nice wood.

Having created the dream car it was kept for an amazing 16 years until 2020.

It was fitted with the very desirable private plate ‘S3 ROV’ which will stay with the car.

Exterior

The body work really is immaculate with very few marks in the otherwise pristine paint, and there are no dings in the perfect panels. It all speaks of a carefully looked after car. The very pale blue tinted silver paint suits the car well. The black plastics and rubber seals are all very good, still dark and not marked, and the bright work of the badges grill and lights all sparkle.

The alloy wheels are unmarked and have Pirelli Scorpion tyres all round, as would have been fitted from new.

Unusually this Sport has the rarely seen factory accessory nudge bar and extra driving lights in the front bumper.

Interior

The pale leather is almost like new, soft to the touch and virtually unworn. Being the highest spec available, everything is powered, so the seats have multi way functions, and the car has an electric sunroof fitted. The wood found in the doors, centre consul and dash is very fine, the seller thinks this may have been special order as he has not seen quite the same timber before.

The black carpet has been protected by dealer fit Land Rover mats from new, which are also in good condition and the boot carpet doesn’t show signs of the life of a load lugger!

Mechanical

Front disks and pads, front wheel bearing were replaced earlier this year, the rear disks, pads and one rear calliper having been done last year. The air con was regassed and ride height sensors were also replaced in 2021.

Last year in the car had some body off service work to replace the exhaust cross pipe, engine oil sump, anti roll bar bushes. The anti roll bar bushes, a rear tie rod and rear brake hard lines were renewed at the same time.

History

Looking at the service book shows a full history of regular maintenance with the car being looked after by Guy Salmon Land Rover for most of the last decade, and only a couple of visits to non franchised garages but the ‘genuine parts fitted’ stamps are good news, the only other notable work being the recent extra maintenance work for brakes, bushes and exhaust.

This appears to have led a very comfortable life, the seller thinks it may have been garaged all this time.

Summary

This looks like a car which has been someone’s dream car and after ticking all the boxes on the order form cherished it for many years, using the right premium brand tyres and even staying in the main dealer network for service, and it has the look of a car that was kept garaged as well.

The seller has had a large number of Range Rover Sports pass through his hands but considers this to be by far the nicest example he has come across.

Our estimate for this car is £10,000 - £15,000.
