Background
The first-generation Boxster was introduced by Porsche in 1996 after consultation with Toyota led them to share parts among models helping Porsche to slash its costs during a time when they were struggling from the poor selling 928.
The Boxster was a mid-engine layout giving it a fantastic weight distribution of 50-50 front to back as well as a low centre of gravity resulting in some exceptional road handling performance. The Boxster S was given an upgrade in terms of styling and engine capacity in 2003 before the second generation was introduced in 2005.
