Background

The first-generation Boxster was introduced by Porsche in 1996 after consultation with Toyota led them to share parts among models helping Porsche to slash its costs during a time when they were struggling from the poor selling 928.

The Boxster was a mid-engine layout giving it a fantastic weight distribution of 50-50 front to back as well as a low centre of gravity resulting in some exceptional road handling performance. The Boxster S was given an upgrade in terms of styling and engine capacity in 2003 before the second generation was introduced in 2005.

Overview

This Boxster is a very well looked after car with only 3 owners in excellent overall condition with a rare subtle blue leather trim. It has a full-service history with all the stamps in the service book to go with it. A later model of the first generation of Boxster this car from 2003 came at a time when most of the issues with the earlier examples were ironed out as well as benefitting from a little face lift to keep things fresh.

This Boxster S presents very well and coupled with low owners and remarkably low miles (at just 34,791 miles) this car has likely been afforded the life of luxury which is evidenced by the overall condition of the car.

The recent invoices for work done to the car recently are summarised below.

- All brake discs replaced including sensors and fluid – 28/07/22

- Oil service at 34,454 – 01/04/22

Exterior

The exterior of this Boxster presents in great condition the subtle, modern silver paint work showing off the car’s clean lines and sleek styling. The panels are all straight and free from any excessive wear and tear or damage, the very minor areas to point out are the small chips above the wheel arch, a small mark on the driver’s side of the front bumper and a small chip in the screen. These are all minor issues and don’t detract from the overall fantastic condition of the Boxster, with low miles and low owners, it’s clear to see this car has been very well taken care of with the stamped service book giving more evidence to the fact.

The wheels are in great condition too, with the 10 spoke alloys largely free from any curbing, damage or chips, the photo gallery shows minor stone chips but after 19 years on the road its nothing more than you’d expect. The tyres look to be relatively new with plenty of tread wear left and they’re good quality brand tyres too which is another good sign for a sports car. The blue fabric roof matches the blue leather interior trim and both are in fine condition with the fabric roof reportedly fitting beautifully as well as being watertight and the folding mechanism moving freely. The rear window finishes off the fabric roof nicely and presents in good condition also.

Interior

First thing that draws your eye in the interior is the blue leather upholstery on the very comfortable looking, figure-hugging seats and the matching carpet. The leather is in great condition, no rips, tears or scuffs and the bolsters retain their shape and structure. Moving inward the contrasting silver and black trim is in good condition with very little wear and tear, the most notable being on the radio tuner knob, other than that the rest of the interior switchgear looks to be very presentable and relatively fresh from a 19-year-old car. Other high traffic areas such as the steering wheel and the gear knob have survived very well with little wear to the leather covering, stitching or coverings. Carpets are in good condition also, looking to have been valeted recently with little wear to the driver’s footwell and the branded mat covering.

In terms of functionality in the interior, everything is reported to be working and there are no known faults or warning lights on the dashboard. The fabric roof is also working well with the electronic mechanism folding up and down smoothly and without issue.

Mechanical

Perhaps unsurprisingly with a vehicle with low owners and low miles such as this, the underside seems to be in very good condition. Much, if not all of the factory underseal is present providing plenty of protection to the underside structure, in combination with the plastic under panels which are all in good condition from what we can see. All the suspension components and structures are in fantastic condition with little surface corrosion from the areas you can see in the photo gallery below. We suspect that this car has seen little of the salted roads in the UK and the state of the underside shows this too.

The usual Porsche frunk is a tidy and useful space in this Boxster with the spare wheel present covered up to protect it from luggage being taken in and out. All the plastics and carpet are in good condition in here too and the seams and gutters around the frunk are in good condition too with no obvious corrosion showing.

History

Included with the car is the V5 and the fully stamped service book with Porsche or specialist garages carrying out the work. The full suite of Porsche owner’s manuals is present in the branded black leather carry case, and some invoices for recent work done from the same garage that has looked after the car for some time according to the stamps in the service book. The car has also had a full check done from My Car Check which shows the overview of the model and that no outstanding finance, stolen records or write offs have been found.
