The seventh generation of Porsche's perennial 911 sports car was designated 'Type 991', succeeding the Type 997. Introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011, the Type 991 is only the third all-new platform for the 911 since the original of 1963, the second being the Type 996 of 1999. Porsche's signature 'flat-six' engine was available in three different capacities in the Type 991 (3.4-litres, 3.8-litres, and 4.0-litres) with power outputs ranging from the entry-level Carrera's 345bhp up to the Turbo S's 552 horsepower. Following its established practice, Porsche also offered Cabriolet, Targa, GT3 and GT3 RS variants to cater for all customer demands ranging from soft-top boulevard cruiser to track-day assault weapon.

In September 2015, the Type 991.2 was introduced in revised and restyled form for the 2016 model year, becoming the '991.2' in factory parlance. To the concern of some traditionalists, turbo-charged engines were now standardised throughout the range. The purists did not have to wait long for their concerns to be assuaged, as in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show Porsche unveiled the limited edition 911 R, featuring the 'old' GT3 RS's normally aspirated 4.0-litre 493bhp engine and a new six-speed manual gearbox. Extensive changes were made to the engine allowing a 9,000 rpm redline from the 4.0-litre flat-six engine. Porsche's focus was on reducing internal friction to improve throttle response. The 991.2 GT3 brought back the choice between a manual transmission or PDK dual clutch transmission. A Touring version, like the car we have here, was also introduced which came standard with the comfort package and the manual transmission along with the deletion of the fixed rear wing and employing an electronically operated rear wing instead.

Overview

Previously registered in Finland, this left hand drive 991.2-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Touring was imported into the UK and registered with the DVLA in July 2021, when it was acquired by its first and only UK-based owner. This example is presented in the popular colour of Crayon with tinted glass and gloss black window surrounds, over a black leather and cloth trimmed cabin. It has an incredible 1840 miles (at the time of writing) from new. Specified with the Touring Package, this 911 GT3 features a deployable rear spoiler in place of the substantial rear wing, an engaging manual gearbox rather than the PDK system, and additional leather trim in the cabin. Factory-fitted equipment includes the Sport Chrono package, the Porsche Sports Exhaust, PASM, and the nose-lift system.

Exterior

This GT3 Touring boasts a distinctive and aggressive silhouette, with the 911’s classic low and wide stance that's instantly recognisable. It features various aerodynamic enhancements, including a rear wing that's less prominent than the standard GT3, giving it a more understated appearance. The front fascia incorporates large air intakes to provide ample cooling for the high-performance engine. The rear includes a functional diffuser and twin exhaust outlets. The Touring package includes unique touches like silver "GT3 Touring" lettering on the rear grille and black exterior accents throughout. The car sits on 20-inch centre-lock alloy wheels, behind which sit prominent and aggressive red brake calipers. The wheels are finished in black and they are all shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

Interior

The black leather and cloth trimmed sporty cabin is offset by grey stitching with aluminium trim inlays on the centre console and the gear stick. Factory fitted optional extras include the electrically adjustable heated sport seats and a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and a DAB digital radio. The car comes with black, leather rimmed floor mats to protect the black carpet that sits underneath. The leather finished door cards and black-finished door sills are in fine order and free from scuffs.

Mechanical

This 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is equipped with a high-performance, 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated flat-six engine that produces an impressive 493 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing for a pure and engaging driving experience. The GT3 Touring's engine is known for its excellent power delivery, precise throttle response, and a thrilling exhaust note, making it a favorite among sports car enthusiasts. There aren’t any photos of the engine and engine bay but given the low mileage of this motor and the condition inside and out, it’d be surprising to find anything nasty under there.

History

This is a one owner from new motor; it’s from a smoke free home. The car was first registered in June 2018 and it comes with a full service history and an active MOT, which runs through to October this year. The car has an MoT record for the years 2021 and 2022 at 295 miles and 628 miles, respectively. The car is still under Porsche extended warranty and it was serviced once by Porsche when brought to the UK in 2021. It’s being supplied with its original service book and two sets of keys.

Summary

This is an incredibly desirable, 6-speed manual, high-performance 4.0-litre 991.2 GT3. It’s an exceptionally low mileage example that is offered with the remainder of the Porsche main dealer extended warranty according to the vendor. This is a special and unique car - as such, we think a prospective buyer will have to part with somewhere between £135,000 and £155,000 to take this car home.
