The current owner had been on the lookout for a good example of this car for a few months before coming across this one and since ownership began has ‘reset’ the service history by means of doing all the scheduled fluid, filter and other miscellaneous running gear refreshes. This includes such things as a new AC condenser, air suspension refresh, parking brake drums renewed as well as new ABS rings fitted. It also meant that any little issues the car had have been attended to. An example of this is the prop shaft centre bearing, after some vibration was felt during driving. Whilst this was being done, the exhaust had to come off and whilst it was off the car, the opportunity to replace rubber bushings and gaskets was taken.
Elsewhere underneath the car, the rear subframe has been removed, had all bushes replaced and was welded, as the mounting points had pulled away on both sides (a common age-related issue on these we’re told). With all that work done, the new owner should hopefully be set for some trouble-free motoring for some time to come.
The drivetrain package is obviously one of the big draws to the E-Class AMG estate and it’s not hard to imagine why when shoehorned under the unassuming front end is a 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 pumping out over 500 BHP with gave M5 beating performance and even reportedly showing taillights to Audi R8s on the dragstrip.
The owner reports that during their time with the car and after the significant work gone into making this car perform to its best, it does just that, perform to its absolute best, exactly how AMG intended it to from the factory. All the signs are there that point to this car being an extremely well cared for example everywhere throughout and the driveline is no different.
