Background

Please note: Due to the winning bidder defaulting on their purchase, this vehicle is being relisted.

In production from 1967 to 1969 was the Kaiser-Jeep M715 truck. For the US military, they made more than 30,000 of those. And also based on the M715 truck was the Kaiser-Jeep M725 Ambulance. It shared its parts with the truck but was meant to be used as an ambulance, it came with provisions like a barn-style rear door, extra space for patients and stretchers, etc. The most noticeable difference between the M715 and M725 was the taller ambulance body.

Overview

Featured here is one ex-military M725 ambulance. It's from the US Army and appears to have all the dashboard fittings in place. The M725s came powered by the Tornado 230 straight-six engine and had 4WD with Dana axels at both ends.

Exterior

Still sporting what appears to be the original on-duty paint, the Kaiser Jeep Ambulance came accessorized on the outside too. The auxiliary lights, jerry cans at the rear, painted steel rims, and even a snorkel prove that this was no ordinary transport vehicle. If you're out of ideas on how to spruce one up, Jeep's 2021 SEMA exhibit can provide some good inspiration.

Interior

The Kaiser-Jeep M725 could carry up to two stretchers or five patients if they were sitting, apart from the crew. There was also a surgical lamp, an inclusion of air vents, and also a heater. Access to the front was through conventional doors while the rear has barn doors. But in addition to that, there was also a sliding door between the frontal cabin and the rear.

Mechanical

The M725 drew power from a Tornado 230 straight-six engine. A four-speed manual gearbox would send power to all four wheels, with Dana axles at both front and rear. The maximum (permissible) on-road speed was 60 mph, with the transfer case in high range.

History

There isn't any information available on the vehicle's history. Odometer shows 2,204 miles.

Summary

As many customized examples of the M715 have shown, this too can be modernized. There's a lot of space inside, and it looks good too. While a six-cylinder engine and onboard 4WD system meant the M725 did its job (when new), swapping a more powerful engine would be a sensible choice if you're planning to go down the 'restomod' route. It can also be a luxurious campervan, especially given the huge cabin. Regardless of what you plan to do with the M725, it's a very cool-looking vehicle, and even in stock form, it won't fail to get fellow enthusiasts' attention.

Estimated $6,000 - $8,000.

PLEASE NOTE: The vehicles from this collection have been sitting for a number of years. Mechanical and running condition of each lot is unknown, and they are being sold 'as is'. This vehicle is being sold on Bill of Sale only.
