Background
Trace the DNA of the XK8 far enough and you’ll find the XJS platform (shared with the Aston Martin DB7) and, before that, a Jaguar experimental project from the mid-1980s known as XJ41/XJ42.
At its launch in 1996, the Jaguar XK8 was available in two-door coupé or two-door convertible body styles powered by the new and loudly applauded 4.0-litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine.
The XK range got a series of mechanical and aesthetic enhancements in 2002, with the engines in both the XK8 and XKR models being enlarged to 4.2-litres. The front headlamps were given clear lenses. Other upgrades and changes included new exterior colours and wheels along with different badging.
The models were revised again early in 2004. These revisions and upgrades introduced new wheel designs, bigger front and rear spoilers and a redesigned grille.
The XK8 4.2 White Badge model was a facelifted version of the second-generation XK8 that was introduced in 2005. The White Badge designation refers to a special package that was available for the XK8, which included unique features such as Senta alloy wheels, special paintwork, and upgraded interior trim.
The superb specimen you see before you today is one of these final iterations.
