Background

One of the rarest performance SUVs in the world, the 170mph luxury 414bhp V8 beast commanded a £47,000 premium over the standard £58,280 FX50 (including £4800 for the two piece carbon fibre spoiler), and only 200 were built and it is beleived just 10 RHD UK cars.

Sebastian Vettel’s company car away from the track was an FX50, Infinity being Red Bull’s main sponsor, so he had a wish list of changes ready and waiting, starting with ditching the 155mph speed limiter and the ECU remapped and a free flowing, loud growling exhaust fitted. A unique low drag bodykit and plenty of carbon fibre were added, giving a new grill, front bumper and splitters, extended sills and a rear diffuser with F1 style centre fog lamp and lighter 21” alloy wheels with 20mm lower suspension.

Overview

New in 2013, the Vettel has had just 4 owners and covered only 69,000 miles during its life. Its service history is recorded online by Infinity/Nissan’s service computers, but the owner tells us it is fully up to date.

The current owner has had a wide variety of performance and luxury cars and has particularly enjoyed driving this car and owning such a rare and unusual model, but a new car is on order and so this has to make way.

Exterior

All the Vettel editions share the same metallic white paint, which sparkles in the sunshine. On this car the paint surface is overall excellent, smooth and with a good shine, and only two stone chips noticeable on the bonnet.

It has unique ‘Vettel’ badges front and rear and on the front wings and chrome side vents, all look very good. The panels are very good, there is only one small ding the a lower part of a rear door and that special carbon fibre trim all looks excellent, including the optional spoiler. The rear diffuser was lost when the current owner bought the car.

The lightweight two-tone 21” alloys are mostly in excellent condition with almost no curb damage, only the nearside rear has any easily noticeable scrapes on the rim, and all have Maxxis tyres with good tread.

Interior

Inside, these were retimed from standard in a mix of black leather and alcantara with purple contrast stitching. Overall the condition in very good, the seats show very little sign of wear to the bolsters or seat fabric, although there is a small burn hole in the passenger seat base which a smart repair would be able to fix easily.

The black carpets are excellent and the door cars likewise, and the alcantara steering wheel has as much wear as is is to be expected with this mileage.

It has a special carbon fibre dash centre console and surround with chrome ‘Vettel’ badge on the ashtray cover, all in superb condition. Behind that badge sits the hidden exhaust valve button, which turns up the volume on the rumble from the V8’s twin pipes.

Mechanical

There is not much to see under the bonnet thanks to the shrouding around the 5 litre V8, but given Infinity’s reputation we would not expect to see anything amiss under there. The owner tells us the car has a full main dealer service history, and has just had new rear brake disks and pads all round.

Looking underneath at the floor pan, from what we can see it appears to be in very solid condition without visible corrosion or accident damage.

History

Unfortunately, there is no history for this car.

Summary

If you are in the market for a rare and unusual but everyday usable performance car, this could well be the answer as you are unlikely to see another. With incredible performance and a luxury interior this is a great all round high speed, high spec SUV.

Our estimate for this car is £35,000 - £50,000.
