Background
The Harley Davidson FXST Softail Standard derived its motive power from an air-cooled, 1450cc, Twin Cam V-Twin unit mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
It was good for 115 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm.
The Standard model’s standard features included a powder-coated silver finish on the engine, and a hardtail aesthetic created by a combination of a hidden, horizontal rear shock; laced-steel wheels; a black, horseshoe oil tank; a ‘bobtail’ fender; pull-back handlebar risers; and forward-mounted foot controls.
The bike came with a security system and gave the buyer a choice between a classic carburettor or ESPFI fuel injection.
