Featuring two extremes in postwar motorcycle customization with Dennis Hopper’s businesslike Harley-Davidson and Peter Fonda’s wild “Captain America” chopper, Easy Rider captivated motorcycle enthusiasts and convinced Harley-Davidson to offer a “factory custom” of its own – the FX Super Glide by 1971. Combining Harley’s big-twin engine with Sportster styling and numerous custom tweaks, the Super Glide built a following that continued through the promising new era heralded by the 1984 introduction of the vastly improved Evolution engine. The new Twin Cam 88 V-twin marked another important milestone in Harley-Davidson’s history in 1999 and it spawned a new range of models celebrating the company’s rich heritage with retro styling and featuring the latest technology.
The FXD Dyna Super Glide custom cruiser exemplified the company’s approach, featuring awesome styling and the power of Harley’s 88 cubic-inch, 1,450 cc V-twin engine, developing nearly 70 horsepower and amazing, useful torque output.
