Ford's next model after the Model T was brought out with much fanfare. When it was showcased in 1927, about 10 million gathered to take a look at the car, in just a week. This soon translated to solid sales, and none of this seemed like a surprise, because the Model A, a new car from the ground up, was a huge improvement over the Model T. It was on sale from 1928 - 1931, across a variety of body styles, and with prices starting at just under $400.

Overview

Listed here is a good-looking 1930 Model A Sedan, complete with four doors, a nice interior, chassis plaques intact, and also a handful of trophies that it's won during its lifetime. The odometer reads 79,888 and the car is on Florida plates. You must take a look at the car's condition in the photos below. It seems to defy the fact that it is nearly a hundred years old, this Ford Model A Sedan. The tag states that it's a Briggs-made body, which can also be verified by the straight-top windows.

Exterior

There was a wide variety of body styles for the Model A, and the sedan was quite popular. The four-door version is said to be nearly $200 more than the base Model-A, but it offered unbeatable class and luxury without neglecting the overall value too much. The update Ford brought in for the 1930-31 cars made the body line taller and the grille slightly larger.

Interior

Closed variants of the Model A got a cloth interior, and with the 1930 update, a new instrument panel, too. This 1930 Model A Sedan looks clean on the inside, as it does on the outside. The two-tone dashboard with the wooden panel over the body-colored lower half resonates well with the slightly more upmarket styling in comparison to something like the Roadster.

Mechanical

Despite the multitude of variants, the Ford Model A shared the same mechanicals underneath. It was powered by a four-cylinder engine that made 40 hp. Many owners have since chosen to modify the engine and other components, to keep the Model A interesting. But even in the stock form, it was a huge upgrade over the Model T with twice as much power and more sophisticated internals, better brakes, chassis, etc.

History

Made from '28 to '31, the Ford Model A was a successful offering by Ford Motor Co. On realizing that the Model T wouldn't just cut it for modern customer demands, Ford began working on its replacement in late 1926. The rest as they say is history — a successful chapter, indeed. Odometer shows 79,888 miles.

Summary

The Model A is an absolute collectible. For its relevance, relatively uncomplicated mechanicals, and overall untarnished appeal. A 1930 Model A Sedan is a great place to start and the Four-door example here can be yours for an estimated $9,000 - $14,000.

PLEASE NOTE: The vehicles from this collection have been sitting for a number of years. Mechanical and running condition of each lot is unknown, and they are being sold 'as is'. This vehicle is being sold on Bill of Sale only.
