Background
The Daimler Super V8 was the top of the XJ range and featured softer suspension and all available luxury features, whilst being cosmetically differentiated by the fluted radiator grille and rear boot plinth. The Super V8 came with the supercharged engine found in the XJR, meaning it was certainly no slouch in the power department. Being a supercharged, long wheelbase car might have suggested it would suffer in the handling department but with the addition of Jaguar’s adaptive suspension or CATS system, it held the road well whilst translating as little of the rough surface into the cabin as possible.
Typically used by dignitaries and prime ministers, the XJ and the Daimler have been highly regarded for their composure, looks, performance and luxury. With this car being 22 years old now, it is a lot of car for the money and would make an excellent long-distance tourer.
