Background
Debuted at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show, Bentley’s new Azure featured seductive styling by Italian design house Pininfarina in collaboration with Bentley’s design team. In addition to upholding Bentley’s long-established tradition for luxury and refinement, the Azure was the proverbial “iron fist in a velvet glove” as the world’s most powerful four-seat convertible upon introduction.
Celebrating Bentley’s racing legend and its glorious coach-built tradition, the Azure Mulliner Convertible debuted at the 2000 European 'Drive to Le Mans' event, where more than 100 Vintage-era (Pre-1930) Bentleys paraded at the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe. Production of this bespoke model was strictly limited and according to marque authorities, just 155 were produced in all from 1999 through 2003, including 23 right-hand drive and 132 left-hand drive export models. In addition to delivering awesome performance and purposeful luxury, the Azure Mulliner was produced during a particularly glorious period at Bentley, which included development of the Speed 8 prototype racer that returned Bentley to the Winner’s Circle at the 24-Hours of Le Mans in 2003.
