Background
The first all-new design for the Bentley marque in nearly 20 years at its time of launch, the Arnage was unveiled in 1998, at a time of great turbulence for the brand, which was then in the throes of a takeover bid from Volkswagen Group and BMW.
Initially, the Arnage was launched with a 4.4-litre BMW Twin-turbo V8, but was later upgraded to a 6.75-litre turbocharged L-Series V8, which remained the Arnage’s source of power through to the end of production in 2009, though several revisions and modifications were made along the way.
To mark 60 years of production at its Crewe factory, Bentley launched the limited-run ‘Diamond Series’ of cars. Limited to just 60 units, the majority of which were destined for the United States of America, Diamond Series cars featured Union Jack flag badges, diamond wood inlays, diamond-quilted leather seats, a stainless-steel front bumper, and model-specific 19” alloy wheels.
