Background
Audi’s high-performance RennSport (RS) treatment finally came to the A6 (C5) model range in 2002, eight years after Audi and Porsche had first collaborated to create the Audi RS 2 Avant.
Three further generations of the A6 later the RS6 has firmly established itself as the ultimate incarnation of Audi’s large estate car, effortlessly combining familial practicality with staggering performance.
Introduced in 2020, the C8 Audi RS6 is powered by a 4.0-litre (3,996 cc) twin-turbo V8 with a mild-hybrid electrical boost from the alternator. Total power is 600 PS and combined with the 800 Nm of torque, it can propel the RS 6 from 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds.
As with all RS6 generations, the C8 has Audi’s legendary quattro four-wheel-drive system and now features an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
As with many high-performance cars, the next iteration of RS6 (due in 2025) will be an electrified plug-in hybrid, so this generation could be your last chance of V8 power.
