Background

The first-generation Audi A7, the 4G8, was unveiled in 2010 and continued to be offered by the German firm until 2018. A five-door liftback coupé, its looks are sublime and reinforce both its sporting and luxury credentials, something that isn’t always as easy as Audi makes it look.

It was offered with a choice of engines varying from the poverty-spec 1.8-litre petrol to the time-warping four-litre V8 via the frugal three-litre turbocharged diesel V6.

The 2.8-litre V6 petrol engine you see here is naturally aspirated but nonetheless offers 201bhp and 207 lb.ft. of torque, enough to endow the A7 with a top speed of 146mph after passing 62mph in 8.3 seconds.

Allied to the seven-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro chassis, this A7 offers sure-footed and relaxing transport no matter what the conditions underfoot.

Overview

This Audi A7 is something a bit different. Finished in Dakota Grey Metallic with a black leather interior, it was imported from Asia last year, so this is its first UK winter.

First registered in 2014, ‘LA14 FTP’ is very well specified and fitted with the 2.8-litre petrol engine, automatic transmission, and fabled Quattro four-wheel-drive chassis.

Still showing just 49,000 miles on the clock, the chap who ran it out in Singapore loved it so much he brought it back with him last year – how’s that for dedication?

Exterior

As you’d expect given where it’s spent its life, rust and corrosion are not issues.

Nor is build quality because the condition of the panels, and the way they’re aligned, tells nothing but a good story. Audi’s build quality runs with the best of ‘em and this one shows off its laser-etched shutlines and excellent alignment to great effect.

That Dakota Grey Metallic paint is in great shape too, with a good shine to it and no inherent problems that we can see.

The 19-inch, ten-spoke alloy wheels are also in great shape with no scrapes, scuffs or other signs of having been kerbed and only a small area of what looks like lacquer loss. They’re also fitted with a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, albeit date-stamped 2019 and showing some perishing between the tread on at least one tyre.

The lamp lenses, glazing and badges are all very good indeed.

As for flaws, there’s a small mark on the rear bumper but that’s all we can see for you to do.

We told you he loved it.

Interior

The list of features inside the A7 is long and includes electrically adjustable and heated front seats with lumbar support and driver memory, climate-control air conditioning, parking distance control for the front and rear, automatic start-stop, cruise control, push button start, Bluetooth telephone, privacy glass, a multi-function steering wheel with flappy paddle gearshift, automatic lights, Audi Drive Select adjustable driving modes, a front armrest with cubby box, and electric folding mirrors and boot lid opening.

As for its condition, the soft black leather front seats are almost unmarked. Soft and yet still wonderfully supportive they’ll cosset you across a continent as effectively as they’ll restrain you around Silverstone.

The rear seats are even better.

The wood trim might be somewhat unusual in its appearance but it suits the Audi’s minimalist design very well. It, like the door cards, headlining, carpets, and dashboard, is in great shape.

The boot, with what looks to be an unused space-saver spare wheel, is excellent.

As for work to do, because it’s an imported car the sat-nav is still set for its old home so needs recalibrating. The seller tells us he has been quoted “circa £250” to get this done.

Other than that, it all looks very good. Heck, the kick plates on the sills even still have the blue-tinted protective plastic film from the factory on them and the seller tells us the cabin even still smells like new...

Mechanical

The printout that accompanies the Audi shows the following servicing regimen:

  • 28.11.2014 and 1,028 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd
  • 26.11.2015 and 14,059 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd
  • 17.11.2016 and 25,936 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd
  • 28.11.2017 and 36,523 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd
  • 29.11.2018 and 48,558 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd
  • 31.10.2019 and 59,726 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd
  • 23.10.2020 and 67,874 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd
  • 28.10.2021 and 75,084 kms – service by Premium Automobiles Pte Ltd

As you can see, it starts and runs very well (“it drives spot on”) and does so with no warning lights bar the one that shows it’s overdue a service.

The condition of the engine bay and underside are commensurate with its recorded mileage and maintenance record - and because it’s probably never seen road salt, the surface corrosion you usually find on suspension components and fasteners is largely missing.

History

The Audi’s MoT certificate is valid until 4th April 2024 and it passed with no advisories. Please note that the MoT station incorrectly put down the distance covered as miles, whereas it should read kilometres. Because it’s of such short duration, the seller tells us he can put another one on if the winning bidder would like him to.

The recent Vehicle History Check is clear bar the marker for being an imported car but, like so many imported vehicles, the service history has gone astray so you’ll have to base your bids on the printout we’ve attached and its current condition rather than being able to rely on an extensive paper trail.

It also has two key fobs and a current V5 registration document.

Summary

This has been a short advert because, well, there isn’t much to say, is there?

This is a car that appears to have been meticulously maintained and curated, still looks and smells new inside, and drives and runs as it should.

Condition-wise, it doesn’t get much better, does it?

And an A7 looks terrific too, and the combination of engine, gearbox, and drivetrain mean it’ll get on with transporting you and four others in complete luxury anywhere you want to go and in any weather conditions without making a fuss.

Perhaps best of all, it’ll do all that for somewhere between £11,000 and £16,000, which is a small price to pay for such an accomplished and beautifully presented family car.
