Mark's review

Mark Livesey - Consignment Specialist Message Mark

“ This is effectively a new car! But it has not run for a number of years, so will require a thorough inspection and recommission by a qualified mechanic. ”

This is an immaculate, factory-fresh condition, delivery-kilometres Aston Martin Vanquish that’s yet to get any meaningful heat into its engine or tyres.

Background

Styled by Ian Callum, the man responsible for the DB7, the Vanquish was developed with assistance from Aston Martin's parent company Ford using constructional techniques more advanced than those of any contemporary road car.

The monocoque tub was made of heat-cured bonded aluminium, braced by a central tunnel of carbon fibre to create a lightweight structure of exceptional rigidity, thus enabling the chassis engineers to develop suspension combining excellent handling and roadholding with unrivalled ride quality. The 5.9-litre, 48-valve engine developed 460bhp at 6,800rpm, with 400lb/ft of torque available at 5,500 revs. The six-speed gearbox was controlled by F1-style paddles and could be operated in either of two modes: fully manual or computer-controlled automatic, with a 'sport' setting available on both. The car’s performance statistics placed the Vanquish firmly in the supercar class at the time.

The second-generation Vanquish was introduced in 2012, based on a similar platform to that which underpinned Aston’s DB9 and wrapped in a body that was clearly taking design cues from the DBS.

This visually and dynamically very different car employed the AM28 5.9-litre V12 engine generating 565 bhp and 620 N⋅m of torque.

The beautiful Vanquish could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 295 km/h.

Overview

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 10% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer. If exporting immediately to another country, then tax/duty will only be paid in that country.

The winning bidder will pay €500 customs charge on top of the ‘hammer’ price.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display in the Middle East for a number of years and the only history or paperwork available is displayed in the photo gallery. In all cases the papers shown are photocopies unless otherwise stated. We do not have the original paperwork.

Unless otherwise stated, we have not tried to start or drive the car and cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. The car is not registered anywhere.

It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

As CARS Europe BV is the guarantor of all customs duties and taxes for vehicles within Dutch customs bond, the car cannot be released until full payment received.

All storage charges (€30 + local VAT per day commencing from the sixth day following the auction end) must be paid in full prior to the vehicle’s collection or onward transportation. Collection and viewings are strictly by appointment only.

Please send an email to the storage centre to ensure vehicle(s) are ready at time of collection. Photographic ID will be required at time of collection. If a third party is collecting for you, then written authorisation is required in advance from you and photographic ID of the third party is required at the time of collection.

CARS Europe BV will contact you after the balance payment is received to confirm onward transport requirements. For enquiries about import tax and shipping contact Madam Joanna Herlihy, +31 (0) 252 682 526, +44 7483 433912, joanna@carseurope.net.

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, this 2013 LHD auto Aston Martin Vanquish Coupé comes with no paperwork beyond whatever photocopied documents are shown in the gallery section.

It does however, have its specification sheet, a Vanquish owners’ manual and service book, and three keys including the ‘crystal’.

It has just 125 kilometres on its odometer.

The car takes power and the engine spins freely, but we haven’t started or driven it, so our appraisal of it is entirely based on its cosmetic appearance.

It was bought new for the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles in April 2013.

This car is, to all intents and purposes, a showroom-fresh vehicle that’s barely acquainted with any kind of road service.

It has yet to make any kind of impression on its first tank of fuel.

It just happens to be 10 years old.

Exterior

As you would expect and hope of a car that’s not seen any real use whatsoever, it’s more or less pristine in most relevant senses of the word.

The bodywork, which is a high-tech combination of aluminium, magnesium alloy and carbon-fibre composites, is excellent all round, with all panels, panel gaps and shut lines consistent and even.

There are no dinks, dents or creases of any significance and the ‘Morning Frost White’ paintwork, too, is in very good condition.

The lights, lenses and wheels are also impressive, as are the badging, trim, carbon-fibre inserts and other exterior fixtures and fittings.

There is some dealership badging affixed to the rear of the car. No doubt this can be removed.

There may be some stone chips or light scratches somewhere, but we’ve looked pretty hard and couldn’t find anything worth mentioning.

It’s a beautiful thing and in time-warp condition.

Interior

The good news continues unabated inside, which looks like what you’d expect to find in a car that’s covered just 125 kms.

The ‘Sahara Tan’ upholstery is unmarked, uncreased and, of course, effectively unused.

The quilted leather is soft, supple, comfortable and supportive.

The door cards, headlining, carpets and mats are all beyond reproach.

The rear cabin is following the same script, as is the boot space.

We can’t make any claims about the full functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials, the 1000w Bang & Olufsen sound system or other electrics as we haven’t started or driven the car.

Mechanical

The clean, dry engine and engine bay look brand new, as do the car’s undersides.

History

Unless otherwise stated, this car comes with no history or service records beyond whatever photocopied documents are shown in the gallery.

No documents shown in the gallery in any way constitute any kind of licensing or registration certification.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.

Summary

This is an immaculate, factory-fresh condition, delivery-kilometres Aston Martin Vanquish that’s yet to get any meaningful heat into its engine or tyres.

Provided, of course, that the engine, electrics and mechanicals are amenable to recommissioning and as good as the rest of it, we think this has to be one of the very best examples of the model you could hope to find anywhere.
