Background
The Aston Martin Vanquish first appeared at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2001. Designed by the legendary Ian Callum, it was developed from the Project Vanquish concept car of 1998.
The world’s motoring press were suitably wowed, praising its stunning looks and lauding its modernity. It would doubtless receive the same reaction if it were to first appear today. Elegantly timeless…
The design is so very modern, with a bonded carbon fibre, composite and aluminium chassis all clothed in hand-formed aluminium body panels. The result is a car that is as stiff as it is strong and much lighter than if it had been crafted using more traditional methods.
Available as either a two-seater or a 2 + 2, under that sculptured bonnet sits a naturally aspirated V12 engine, paired with a six-speed electrohydraulic semi-automatic gearbox. There’s power aplenty, not surprising when the motor produces a heady 460bhp.
Headline figures suggest the Vanquish will sprint from rest to 60mph in less than five seconds and should you be so inclined, will continue to pull to somewhere north of 190mph.
Bond aficionados will recall the Vanquish’s starring role in Die Another Day and film buffs voted it the third best film car of all time behind the Minis used in The Italian Job and the legendary Aston Martin DB5. The latter of course starred in Goldfinger and Thunderball.
So, if you fancy indulging your inner Bond, we are delighted to be offering for sale a rare, low mileage Vanquish.
