PLEASE NOTE THAT AN AUCTION PREMIUM WILL BE CHARGED, ON TOP OF THE HAMMER PRICE, OF 5% (+VAT IN UK AND EUROPE). FROM 16TH JAN'23 THIS APPLIES TO ALL AUCTIONS ON THE MARKET, AND FEES ARE MIN €720 / MAX €7,200.

While Aston Martin had previously used the Vantage name on high-performance variants of existing cars, this was its first use on a discrete model.

A lightweight, lithe, agile two-seater coupe or convertible, the Vantage was aimed squarely at people who otherwise would have been heading for their nearest Porsche 911 dealership.

Fitted with a snarling, growling or purring (you decide) V8 under the bonnet, it is a traditional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car of the old school.

But not quite.

While it might be a traditional two-door, two-seat coupé or roadster (convertible) with the engine up front and the driven wheels at the back, the monocoque bodyshell is cunningly formed from glued together aluminium sections. At the time, this was a fairly radical departure from the norm.

The 4.2-litre V8 engine delivered 380bhp and 302lb/ft of torque, enough to see the squat, muscular Aston reach 62mph in 4.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 175mph. The dry sump means the engine sits low down, aiding the Vantage’s handling.

Overview

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 10% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer. If exporting immediately to another country, then tax/duty will only be paid in that country.

The winning bidder will pay €500 customs charge on top of the ‘hammer’ price.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display in the Middle East for a number of years and the only history or paperwork available is displayed in the photo gallery. In all cases the papers shown are photocopies unless otherwise stated. We do not have the original paperwork.

Unless otherwise stated, we have not tried to start or drive the car and cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. The car is not registered anywhere.

It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

As CARS Europe BV is the guarantor of all customs duties and taxes for vehicles within Dutch customs bond, the car cannot be released until full payment received.

All storage charges (€30 + local VAT per day commencing from the sixth day following the auction end) must be paid in full prior to the vehicle’s collection or onward transportation. Collection and viewings are strictly by appointment only.

Please send an email to the storage centre to ensure vehicle(s) are ready at time of collection. Photographic ID will be required at time of collection. If a third party is collecting for you, then written authorisation is required in advance from you and photographic ID of the third party is required at the time of collection.

CARS Europe BV will contact you after the balance payment is received to confirm onward transport requirements. For enquiries about import tax and shipping contact Madam Joanna Herlihy, +31 (0) 252 682 526, +44 7483 433912, joanna@carseurope.net.

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, this 2008 LHD auto Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster comes with no history or service records beyond whatever is shown in the documents section.

It does, however, come with a 2010 sales invoice and a specification sheet.

It has just 376 kilometres on its odometer.

It is Titanium Silver with a Chancellor Red interior.

The car takes power from a battery charger and the dashboard lights up but it doesn’t currently turn over or start.

A message on the dashboard states, “Roof operation not possible”. We don’t know why.

It was bought for the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles in June 2010.

We haven’t started or driven the car, so our appraisal of it is entirely based on its cosmetic appearance.

Exterior

The car’s bodywork, you won’t be surprised to learn of a car that’s barely been used at all, is in excellent condition and there are no dinks, creases or other blemishes to speak of anywhere that we can see.

The ‘Titanium Silver’ paintwork is virtually pristine, as are the wheels, trim, chrome, lights, lenses, badging and all exterior fixtures and fittings.

The red fabric hood is showing no signs of age or wear.

The doors are currently a little reluctant to stay in the ‘fully open’ position.

In every meaningful way, this is a showroom-fresh car that has spent the last 15 years kept safe from harm in a warm, dry time-warp.

Interior

The condition of the interior is entirely commensurate with its external counterpart.

The Chancellor Red leather upholstery is in excellent, as-new condition and gives no clues to its age.

The seats are comfortable and supportive, as you would expect.

The door cards are also in immaculate order, as are the headlining, carpets, mats and trim.

We can’t make any claims about the functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t started or driven the car.

The boot is in similarly impressive condition and includes an Aston Martin car cover and umbrella.

Mechanical

The clean, dry engine and engine bay look fine and the undersides of the car appear to have plenty of structural integrity.

History

This car comes with no history and no service records.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.

No documents shown in the gallery (which are photocopies) in any way constitute any kind of licensing or registration certification unless otherwise stated.

Summary

This very fine delivery-kilometres-only Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster may be technically 15 years old, but its fabulous condition and lack of any kind of serious use mean you get the chance to buy an effectively brand-new car for the price of a 2008 example - provided, of course, that the engine, electrics and mechanicals are amenable to recommissioning and as good as the rest of it.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of €35,000 - €50,000.
