“ Delivery Mileage - Needs Recommissioning ”

Well, basically, this is a time-warp condition, delivery-kilometres Aston Martin Rapide that has yet to properly warm up its engine or take the shine off its tyres.

Provided, of course, that the engine, electrics and mechanicals are amenable to recommissioning and as good as the rest of it, we think this has to be one of the very best examples of the model you could hope to find anywhere.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of €40,000 -€60,000.

Viewing is always encouraged, and this particular car is located in a bonded warehouse near Amsterdam. To arrange an appointment please use the Contact Seller button at the top of the listing. Feel free to ask any questions or make observations in the comments section below, or try our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’.

Background

The Aston Martin Rapide is essentially a four-door, four-seat version of the much-loved DB9. Only ever offered as a fixed-head saloon (hatchback?), it was first introduced as a concept at the North American International Auto Show in 2006 before going into production in 2010.

First built in a dedicated factory in Austria, production moved to the UK in 2012 following a bit of a downturn in the luxury car market. Powered by the 5.9-litre, V12 engine, it delivers staggering performance alongside an intoxicating noise, and its 470bhp and 443lb/ft of torque are enough to propel the 1,990kg Rapide to a top speed of 188mph after passing 62mph in just over five seconds.

The bodyshell is the same clever bonded-and-riveted aluminium and composite structure we saw in the DB9, but the Rapide’s extra roof length is cleverly disguised by its wider flanks. While many four-seat versions of two-seat coupes have a tendency to look a little awkward, the Rapide maintains the Aston Martin design language while adding a hefty dose of practicality.

Overview

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 10% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer. If exporting immediately to another country, then tax/duty will only be paid in that country.

The winning bidder will pay €500 customs charge on top of the ‘hammer’ price.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display in the Middle East for a number of years and the only history or paperwork available is displayed in the photo gallery. In all cases the papers shown are photocopies unless otherwise stated. We do not have the original paperwork.

Unless otherwise stated, we have not tried to start or drive the car and cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. The car is not registered anywhere.

It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

As CARS Europe BV is the guarantor of all customs duties and taxes for vehicles within Dutch customs bond, the car cannot be released until full payment received.

All storage charges (€30 + local VAT per day commencing from the sixth day following the auction end) must be paid in full prior to the vehicle’s collection or onward transportation. Collection and viewings are strictly by appointment only.

Please send an email to the storage centre to ensure vehicle(s) are ready at time of collection. Photographic ID will be required at time of collection. If a third party is collecting for you, then written authorisation is required in advance from you and photographic ID of the third party is required at the time of collection.

CARS Europe BV will contact you after the balance payment is received to confirm onward transport requirements. For enquiries about import tax and shipping contact Madam Joanna Herlihy, +31 (0) 252 682 526, +44 7483 433912, joanna@carseurope.net.

VIN: SCFHDDAJ9CAF02465.

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, this 2012 LHD auto Aston Martin Rapide Coupé comes with no paperwork beyond whatever photocopied documents are shown in the gallery section.

It does however, have its specification sheet, a Rapide owners’ guide and two keys including the ‘crystal’.

It has just 80 kilometres on its odometer.

It is ‘Silver Blonde’ with a ‘Sahara Tan’ interior and walnut veneers.

The car takes power and the engine spins freely, but we haven’t started or driven it, so our appraisal of it is entirely based on its cosmetic appearance.

It was bought new for the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles in April 2013.

This car is, to all intents and purposes, a factory-fresh vehicle that’s barely acquainted with any kind of road service.

It has yet to make any kind of impression on its first tank of fuel.

It just happens to be 11 years old.

Exterior

As you would expect and hope of a car that’s not seen any real use whatsoever, it’s more or less pristine in most relevant senses of the word.

The bodywork is excellent all round, with all panels, panel gaps and shut lines consistent and even.

There are no dinks, dents or creases of any significance and the silver paintwork, too, is in very good condition.

The lights, lenses and wheels are also impressive, as are the badging, trim and other exterior fixtures and fittings.

There is some dealership badging affixed to the rear of the car. No doubt this can be removed.

There may be some stone chips somewhere, but we couldn’t find them.

It’s a beautiful thing and in frankly extraordinary condition.

Interior

The showroom-fresh experience continues unabated inside, where even the ‘new car’ smell still pervades after 11 years.

The ‘Sahara Tan’ upholstery is unmarked, uncreased and, of course, effectively unused.

The leather is soft and supple.

The seats are supportive and comfortable, their headrests embroidered with the ‘Rapide’ motif.

All of it is pretty much immaculate.

The door cards, headlining, wood veneers, carpets and mats are all beyond reproach.

The rear cabin is following the same script, as is the boot space.

We can’t make any claims about the full functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials, the 1000w Bang & Olufsen sound system (with 2 sets of headphones for the rear passengers) or other electrics as we haven’t started or driven the car.

Mechanical

The clean, dry engine and engine bay look brand new, as do the car’s undersides.

History

Unless otherwise stated, this car comes with no history or service records beyond whatever photocopied documents are shown in the gallery.

No documents shown in the gallery in any way constitute any kind of licensing or registration certification.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.
