PLEASE NOTE THAT AN AUCTION PREMIUM WILL BE CHARGED, ON TOP OF THE HAMMER PRICE, OF 5% (+VAT IN UK AND EUROPE). FROM 16TH JAN'23 THIS APPLIES TO ALL AUCTIONS ON THE MARKET, AND FEES ARE MIN €720 / MAX €7,200.

The Aston Martin Rapide is essentially a four-door, four-seat version of the much-loved DB9. Only ever offered as a fixed-head saloon (hatchback?), it was first introduced as a concept at the North American International Auto Show in 2006 before going into production in 2010.

First built in a dedicated factory in Austria, production moved to the UK in 2012 following a bit of a downturn in the luxury car market. Powered by the 5.9-litre, V12 engine, it delivers staggering performance alongside an intoxicating noise, and its 470bhp and 443lb/ft of torque are enough to propel the 1,990kg Rapide to a top speed of 188mph after passing 62mph in just over five seconds.

The bodyshell is the same clever bonded-and-riveted aluminium and composite structure we saw in the DB9, but the Rapide’s extra roof length is cleverly disguised by its wider flanks. While many four-seat versions of two-seat coupes have a tendency to look a little awkward, the Rapide maintains the Aston Martin design language while adding a hefty dose of practicality.

Overview

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 10% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer. If exporting immediately to another country, then tax/duty will only be paid in that country.

The winning bidder will pay €500 customs charge on top of the ‘hammer’ price.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display in the Middle East for a number of years and the only history or paperwork available is displayed in the photo gallery. In all cases the papers shown are photocopies unless otherwise stated. We do not have the original paperwork.

Unless otherwise stated, we have not tried to start or drive the car and cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. The car is not registered anywhere.

It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

As CARS Europe BV is the guarantor of all customs duties and taxes for vehicles within Dutch customs bond, the car cannot be released until full payment received.

All storage charges (€30 + local VAT per day commencing from the sixth day following the auction end) must be paid in full prior to the vehicle’s collection or onward transportation. Collection and viewings are strictly by appointment only.

Please send an email to the storage centre to ensure vehicle(s) are ready at time of collection. Photographic ID will be required at time of collection. If a third party is collecting for you, then written authorisation is required in advance from you and photographic ID of the third party is required at the time of collection.

CARS Europe BV will contact you after the balance payment is received to confirm onward transport requirements. For enquiries about import tax and shipping contact Madam Joanna Herlihy, +31 (0) 252 682 526, +44 7483 433912, joanna@carseurope.net.

VIN: SCHDDAJ8CGF03037.

Engine No: AM16/33166.

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, this 2012 LHD auto Aston Martin Rapide Coupé comes with no history or service records beyond whatever is shown in the documents section.

It does however, have the original purchase acknowledgement letter from Aston Martin, its specification sheets, a duplicate Rapide owners’ guide, a new battery, and three keys including the ‘crystal’.

It has just 105 kilometres on its odometer.

It is ‘Morning Frost White’ with a ‘Sandstorm’, ‘Ivory’ and Chancellor Red interior.

The car turns over, starts and runs but it sounds rather rough (we don’t know why - we’re not mechanics) and is clearly in need of recommissioning.

It was bought new for the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles in April 2013.

We haven’t driven the car more than a few metres, so our appraisal of it is entirely based on its cosmetic appearance.

Exterior

The car’s bodywork, you won’t be surprised to learn of a car that’s yet to make any impression on its first tank of fuel, is in excellent condition and there are no dinks, creases or other blemishes to speak of anywhere that we can see.

The ‘Morning Frost White’ paintwork is virtually pristine, as are the wheels, trim, chrome, lights, lenses, badging and all exterior fixtures and fittings.

The car has some bespoke dealership badging at the rear.

In every important cosmetic way, this is a showroom-fresh car that has spent the last 11 years living in a protected automotive time-warp somewhere warm and dry.

Interior

The condition of the interior is every bit as good as its external counterpart.

The ‘Sandstorm’ leather upholstery with embroidered ‘Rapide’ motifs is in excellent, as-new condition and gives no clues to its age.

The seats are comfortable and supportive, as you would expect.

The door cards are also in immaculate order, as are the headlining, carpets, mats and trim.

The walnut veneers are in similarly fine condition.

The large luggage area is as good as you would hope and includes the original Aston Martin umbrella.

The car comes with a 1000W Bang & Olufsen BeoSound audio system.

We can’t make any claims about the full functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t driven the car more than a few metres.

Mechanical

The clean, dry engine and engine bay look fine and the undersides of the car appear to have plenty of structural integrity.

History

This car comes with no history and no service records.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.

No documents shown in the gallery in any way constitute any kind of licensing or registration certification unless otherwise stated. What you see are photocopies (we do not have the originals).

Summary

This very fine delivery-kilometres-only Aston Martin Rapide Coupé may be over a decade old, but its exceptional condition and virtually unused status mean you get the chance to buy an effectively brand-new car for the price of a 2012 example - provided, of course, that the engine, electrics and mechanicals are amenable to recommissioning and as good as the rest of it.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of €40,000 - €60,000.
