“ Excellent Spec – Superbly Maintained – Astonishingly Low Miles ”

Penned over 20 years ago, the DB9 is still a stunning-looking car which easily falls into the class of being a modern classic.

This DB9 has been cared for by just two previous keepers and the current owner for nine years. Clearly, going from the mileage and condition, it has had very little use and probably only enjoyed as a weekend tourer.

Designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, the Aston Martin DB9 was first unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show as the successor to the fantastically popular DB7. Crucially, the DB9 was the first Aston model to be built at the then-new facility in Gaydon, Warwickshire, with plans to build between 1400 and 1500 cars per year.

Powered by a 6-litre, naturally-aspirated V12, a development of the 5.9-litre, 48-valve V12 engine found in the DB7 Vantage, which produced 470bhp, this superb powerplant is able to propel the sensuous looking coupe to a top speed of 186mph.

The aluminium engine is mounted as far back as possible in the chassis while the transmission/final drive is positioned ahead of the rear axle, resulting in 85% of the car's mass being sited between the axles, and a perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution.

Overview

The vendor has cherished this 6.0 litre V12 Aston Martin DB9 for the past nine years. Within that time, the car has been taken for regular MoT tests and servicing each year, even though the car has only been covering just a couple of hundred miles each year, sometimes even less, and it has still only covered an astonishingly low 12,613 miles in its 18-year life.

The car has an excellent spec, including a bright finish grille, powerfold door mirrors, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, uprated audio and satellite navigation.

The whole package, from the spec, mileage, service history and low ownership, makes this beautiful 2005 Aston Martin DB9 an excellent contender for anyone wanting a hand-built British modern classic.

The personalised numberplate V12 TYL is included with the car. The car has been kept in a heated garage and covered with an Aston Martin car cover which is also included in the sale.

Exterior

The DB9 is undeniably one of the best-looking Astons available. With its sleek, timeless design, you are hard-pressed to find something equally beautiful from the same era. From whichever angle you view, the DB9 doesn’t disappoint and still holds its own today.

As we walk around the DB9, it's easy to see just how well cared for the car has been. Stone chips are negligible; yes, there are some, but they are small and would be expected for the car's age. There are no dings or dents to mention, and the shut lines all have an equal panel gap.

The windows are in excellent condition with no noticeable scratches, as is the chrome trim which surrounds them. The optional extra bright grille is in excellent condition, and sitting on either side, the headlights are flawless with no cracks to the lenses.

At the rear of the Aston, optional parking sensors are discreetly fitted within the lower valance so as not to spoil the smooth lines of the bumper. The red rear lights are superb with no damage and sit well against the Mercury Silver paintwork.

Finishing off the exterior are the ten-spoke 19” alloy wheels, which are all in excellent condition, along with the centre caps. They are shod in a matching set of Bridgestone Potenza tyres; these have covered less than 1,000 miles since being fitted and, therefore, have a good amount of tread remaining.

Interior

The choice of colour for the interior of the DB9 was Parchment, and this is a lovely contrast against the Mercury Silver exterior. The electric heated front seats are in good order, with just a tiny amount of age-related creasing to the leather giving their age away.

The rear seats are in excellent condition and don’t appear to have had a great deal of use. The door cards are both excellent, with no scuffs to point out. The internal door handles are quite prone to picking up the odd scratch; we are pleased to say they are all still in good order.

Finished in parchment to match the seats, the dashboard is in excellent condition with no scuffs. The instrument cluster has a bright finish with no scratches to the screen. No warning lights are illuminated, and the odometer displays a reading of 12,613 miles. The switchgear is in excellent condition, and everything is said to be working correctly. The audio system is the 260w Linn, with Limbik 5.1 surround sound, and there is also satellite navigation, which includes the disc, although we are not sure if this is up to date.

The carpets and headlining are excellent due to the low mileage, and inside the boot is in the same condition. There is also an Aston Martin battery conditioner included.

Mechanical

There's nothing quite like the sound of a V12 spinning into action as it fires up without hesitation and comes to a smooth idle. No issues have been reported with the running of the DB9, as you would expect for a vehicle with just 12,613 miles.

The automatic gearbox glides through the gears with no untoward noises, and for those who prefer more spirited driving, you have the option to change gears via the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

The engine bay presents exceptionally well, with no real signs of oxidisation to the aluminium components. The same can be said for the underside; the aluminium floor is nice and clean, and there is just a small amount of road dirt on the suspension components but no signs of corrosion.

History

The DB9 comes with three keys and two key fobs, which are all in excellent condition and don’t really look to have been used an enormous amount.

The annual invoices show servicing work carried out by Aston Martin, Leeds. The most recent service was carried out in July 2023.

Some previous Mot certificates are present, but you can always look online to see the car has been taken for a test each year, showing regular but very little use. The MoT is valid until 6th August 2024, and the car passed with no advisories at 12,553 miles.

Summary

Penned over 20 years ago, the DB9 is still a stunning-looking car which easily falls into the class of being a modern classic.

This DB9 has been cared for by just two previous keepers and the current owner for nine years. Clearly, going from the mileage and condition, it has had very little use and probably only enjoyed as a weekend tourer.

If you are looking for a DB9, this is one which should be at the top of your list. When you consider the low mileage, service history and low ownership and with a guide of between £30,000 - £35,000, it offers excellent value for money.
