Background

Launched in 2003 as successor to the DB7, the DB9 was the first model to be built at Aston Martin's new factory at Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Like its DB7 predecessor, the DB9 was styled by Ian Callum.

The DB9 is powered by a development of the 5.9-litre, 48-valve, V12 engine found in the DB7 Vantage, which produced 470bhp, an output sufficient to propel the aerodynamic coupé from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 305km/h.

The aluminium engine is mounted as far back as possible in the chassis while the transmission/final drive is positioned ahead of the rear axle, resulting in 85% of the car's mass being sited between the axles and a perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution.

Overview

This 2011 auto Aston Martin DB9 has covered just 22,000 miles from new and comes in the unusual and, in our opinion, very attractive shade of Californian Sage Green.

On the occasion of its 2016 MoT, it had covered 9,830 miles.

So, as you can tell, the car has been used regularly, but sparingly, as evidenced by its excellent condition – which is supported by years of diligent curation, care and maintenance by both the current owner/vendor and his predecessors.

The car has been garaged throughout its life and, when not in use for any length of time, it has been protected by a professional-quality, strong, breathable, custom-fit car cover.

The vehicle comes with 19” 10-spoke alloy wheels, heated front seats, Bluetooth hands-free telephony, Sat Nav, front and rear parking sensors and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Exterior

The bodywork is really very good and there are no dents, creases or dinks of any significance to report.

The unusual Californian Sage Green paintwork has retained plenty of shine and lustre and presents very handsomely from every angle. Even the entirely standard allocation of stone chips, scratches and road rash you’d expect to find on a 12-year-old car is far more notable by its absence than its presence.

There are a few small stone chips around the front valance.

The wheels are in fine condition and seem to be unacquainted with any kerbs or other hazards. The tyres look to have plenty of life left in them.

The lights, lenses, badging, trim and other exterior fixtures and fittings are all in fine fettle. In short, it’s really very good indeed and the car’s strong condition is far more a reflection of its low mileage than its age.

Interior

The good news continues unabated on the inside.

The cream and black leather interior, with black leather dash, is pretty much showroom-fresh and, in general, the front seats have yet to earn the right to even light creasing let alone a meaningful patina.

The driver’s seat has slight wear to the leather on the bolster nearest the door but we’re confident that the right leather feed and some appropriate expertise could correct this with minimum effort.

The rear seats look even less familiar with any kind of use.

The door cards are apparently untroubled by the passage of time.

So, too, is the headlining. The carpets and mats are following the same script. We’re assured that all toggles, buttons, knobs, levers, switches and dials do precisely what they’re meant to do. The boot looks very good.

Mechanical

The engine bay looks as you would hope to find in a car that’s yet to exceed 22,000 miles.

Everything appears to be in its right and proper place.

The undersides of the car seem to have plenty of structural integrity, as you would expect with such a low-mileage car.

History

This splendid DB9 comes with a full original service book of Aston Martin stamps.

It was last serviced on 8th September 2022. Its MoT is valid until 7th September 2023,

It comes with a handbook pack with 2 sets of keys, including the ‘crystal’.

A new battery and wiper blades were recently installed by Aston Martin.

Summary

We think this is an excellent example of both the model and the marque and one that combines low mileage, strong history and a rare colour to optimum effect.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of £40,000 - £50,000.
