David Hayhow - Consignment Specialist Message David

“ This Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a stylish and highly versatile modern super-saloon, offered for sale with one owner from new, carbon race seats and a comprehensive maintenance history. A Ferrari-designed chassis and engine, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio ticks all the boxes – and if there were more, it would tick those too. ”

Under the bonnet sits a twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6, delivering 503bhp to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential with torque vectoring.

Background

As everyone knows, you can’t call yourself a petrolhead unless you’ve owned an Alfa Romeo.

But even the most die-hard marque fanatics, the kind of people who go to bed wearing Alfa pyjamas, would have to admit that sometimes the almost mythical allure of the brand owes more to wishful thinking and rose-tinted imaginings than it does to the reality of driving some of the more recent models to wear the ‘Biscione’ badge.

When, in 2015, Alfa Romeo resurrected the Giulia name from the 4-door saloons and the more celebrated coupé derivatives of the 1960s and ‘70s, the motoring world rejoiced in having another front-engined, rear-wheel-drive alternative to the dominant German compact executive cars. Awards were swift in coming, helped in equal measure by the Giulia’s beguiling looks and strong performance.

Before the dust had settled, Alfa presented the ‘hot’ Quadrifoglio halo model as a direct challenge to the BMW M3, Mercedes-AMG C63 and Audi RS4.

Its Ferrari-designed 2.9L twin-turbo V6 delivers a maximum of 505bhp and a 0–62mph time of just 3.9 seconds.

Featuring a carbon-fibre bonnet, roof, prop shaft and front splitter, and weighing just 1,542kg, the Quadrifoglio is properly quick right across the rev range.

And its Ferrari-designed chassis helps put all that power on the road in a very, very satisfying manner.

That the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio was named ‘Best Performance Car for Thrills’ at the 2023 What Car? Awards for the second consecutive year speaks volumes and should tell you all you need to know about whether or not this particular Alfa lives up to the reputation established by its illustrious forbears.

In case you’re still not sure, it does.

It really does.

Overview

Launched in 2016 (who would have thought it was that long ago), the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is probably one of the best-looking saloons to grace the roads today. A breathtaking high-performance saloon which not only has huge road presence, but under its sculpted bonnet lies a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine unleashing a formidable 505bhp, propelling it from 0–62mph in a blistering 3.9 seconds. This car delivers razor-sharp handling, absolutely stunning looks, and an utterly thrilling soundtrack that sets the pulse racing. For 2021, it also received welcome enhancements with updated infotainment and cutting-edge safety technology, ensuring a modern and engaging experience.

This 43,472-mile example has had just one former keeper, with the current keeper owning it since 2022. It comes with a full service history, the last one carried out under 300 miles ago. It performs brilliantly, making it an incredibly rewarding and emotional choice for keen drivers who appreciate a truly exceptional machine.

Exterior

Instantly recognisable as an Alfa Romeo thanks to the "Scudetto" V-shield grille, you then appreciate the flowing, sculpted lines and muscular proportions giving this Giulia the enormous road presence it has.

Finished in special order Nero Etna (black with green & bronze metallic fleck) that comes to life in the sunshine the paintwork is in excellent condition.

Starting at the front, aside from the iconic grille, the Giulia features an aggressive front bumper design with functional air intakes and parking sensors. Both LED adaptive headlights have no damage to the lenses and provide excellent illumination. Moving up, the carbon-fibre bonnet features two vents to help cool the engine.

From the side, the profile looks fantastic. The panel gaps are equal, all of the windows are free from any noticeable scratches, and of course, the legendary four-leaf clover badges sit proudly on each wing.

The rear is just as pretty as the rest of the car, with tinted light clusters as standard, a neat subtle carbon-fibre spoiler on the boot lid, down to the quad tailpipes which sound amazing, and the rear diffuser helps with the aerodynamics. There really isn’t much of anything to dislike about the styling of this Alfa.

Fitted with the factory 19-inch alloy wheels, these are finished in gunmetal grey and in excellent condition. Connecting car with the tarmac is a very new set of Continental Sport tyres that have plenty of tread remaining.

Interior

Dripping in carbon fibre and high-quality Italian leather, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio's interior is unmistakably driver-focused and strikes a compelling balance between motorsport-inspired design and everyday luxury.

Let’s start with the optional extra front Sparco seats which are trimmed in black leather with Alcantara centres, green and white stitching, and carbon-fibre backs and side panels which are in superb condition. The Isofix rear seat is also excellent, as are all four door cards that continue the leather and carbon-fibre theme onto the dashboard.

The leather dashboard is in excellent condition with no damage to point out. The instruments sit with both needles pointing south in typical Alfa style, there are no warning lights when running, and the odometer shows a reading of 43,472 miles.

A flat-bottomed multi-function leather steering wheel is in good order with just the smallest amount of shining to the rim in keeping with the mileage, and of course, in true performance car style, the start/stop button is also attached to the wheel along with the paddle shifters for those who have a spirited driving style. The carbon fibre continues across the dashboard, down to the centre console where you will find the central rotary dial allowing you to change and set various functions of the car through the improved 8.8-inch widescreen multi-touch display. Some of the features inside the Alfa include dual-zone climate control, cruise control, Apple CarPlay, Harman Kardon sound system, plus many more.

Throughout the cabin, the carpets are in excellent condition with no signs of age as you would expect. There is also a set of factory mats fitted which are in good order. Inside, the boot is also clean and tidy, and the warning triangle is in place attached to the boot lid.

Mechanical

Powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine developed with input from Ferrari engineers. It produces 505bhp and 443lb-ft of torque, delivering power to the rear wheels through an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The engine is known for its sharp throttle response, thrilling soundtrack, and strong mid-range pull, allowing the car to accelerate from 0–62mph in just 3.9 seconds.

The superbly presented engine bay holds the tightly packed 2.9-litre twin-turbo which fires up at the press of a button and runs with no issues reported or warning lights displayed.

The eight-speed automatic gearbox offers smooth shifts in automatic mode and crisp, rapid changes when using the steering wheel-mounted paddles, especially in Dynamic or Race modes, with a top speed of approximately 191mph but restricted to 155mph.

The suspension features Alfa Romeo’s SDC (Synaptic Dynamic Control) system which ensures the sports saloon stays well planted on the road and goes exactly where you point it. Agile handling makes the drive a fantastic experience which doesn’t tire.

High performance demands high-performance brakes. These come in the form of 14.2-inch front and 13.8-inch rear discs gripped with Brembo calipers. These bring the car to a stop in a straight line with no problems reported.

The underside presents well with just a few light scratches to the carbon-fibre lower spoiler, but these are mainly to the underside.

History

Being only four years old, there isn’t a tremendous amount of history with the car purely due to its age. It does, however, have five services under its belt which were carried out at the following intervals:

●    06.10.2022 @ 7,413 miles
●    10.10.2023 @ 15,534 miles
●    03.02.2024 @ 23,327 miles
●    01.07.2024 @ 32,105 miles
●    29.01.2025 @ 40,201 miles

As mentioned, the car has just one former keeper. The owner’s manuals are included along with both keys and the EC Certificate of Conformity confirming exactly what it is.

Summary

Are you in the market for a high-performance family saloon? If the answer is yes, then look no further. And if it’s no, but you have read this far, you will have now changed your mind. Just look at it! 510bhp, 2.9-litre twin-turbo, stunning looks, carbon-fibre interior/exterior accessories and a stunning leather interior.

A Ferrari-designed chassis and engine, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio ticks all the boxes – and if there were more, it would tick those too. A fantastic Italian high-performance sports saloon which we estimate will fetch between £40,000–£45,000.
