Background

Some of you may look at this car and think “blimey, someone’s been busy with this FIAT 500”, only it isn’t. Yes, whilst this car can of course trace its bloodline back to the more humble citycar ideal for nipping in and out of town, what you see before you is a completely different animal. The car before you is none other than the Abarth 695 Triutbo Ferrari.

It’s not just the name that gives a very deliberate nod to the famous performance brand – just take a look at the iconic Rossa Corsa paint, and the equally iconic ‘Scuderia’ double stripe that runs its way along the entire length of this stubby pocket rocket. Sadly, there’s no Ferrari firepower to be had under the bonnet, but thanks to 1.4 litre turbocharge petrol it still packs a respectable punch.

You can expect 178bp along with 184 lb ft, which is delivered to the front wheels via a 5-speed automated manual gearbox. 0-62 is done in under 7.0 seconds and where permitted, the top speed is 140mph – not bad for such a little car. As well as being small in stature, it tips the scale at a little 1,070kg, so it’s light on its 17” toes.

Speaking of which, the 17” Corsa Grey alloys are modelled on Ferrari-designed rims, so there’s plenty of prancing horse inspiration to be found around the car. The alloys are wrapped with 205/40/17 Michelin tyres and behind the alloys you’ll find uprated Brembo brakes to offer stronger stopping power.

Overview

It’s safe to say this model of car is rare as just 152 right-hand drive models were made and in all honesty, you’ll have to look very hard to find one with this low mileage and in this condition. Despite being manufactured over a decade ago, this example has covered less than 400 miles and as you can expect, it’s in superb condition. Many items on the car look virtually new. It’s also very little surprise that this car comes with a clean MOT history with the current MOT valid until October 2023.

Exterior

It’s clear the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari is no shrinking violet, and it’s all the better for it. There’s plenty to take in from Abarth’s small, but sporty physique. The first thing to strike you is the Rossa Corsa paintwork, which would be at home on any Ferrari worth its ilk, which is complemented with 17” Corsa Grey alloys that look allow the 695 to look as if it’s hugging the road. Of couse, the ‘Scuderia’ stripes that run the length of the car are a deliberate tribute to the famous performance marque.

You get a sense that the designers weren’t quite satisfied with this as there’s even more sporting paraphernalia including an aggressive front bumper, a pleasing chunky rear diffuser that is home to no less than four exhausts, which is finished with a healthy smattering of carbon fibre for good measure. Oh, and of course, we simply cannot forget about the Tributo Ferrari badges that are the cherry on this Ferrari-inspired cake.

As you would expect from a car with such low mileage, the exterior is in superb condition and looks as good as it did all the way back in 2011. The chromeware is bright and free of tarnishing, the 17” alloys are fresh, with brake calipers that are a vibrant as the bodywork. All the glassware and lights are also in superb condition, leaving you with a car that will look as good outside Maranello as it does Marks and Spencer.

Interior

If you’ve owned an Abarth before then the interior will feel very familiar, but the 695 Tributo Ferrari has some really nice touches to make the cabin more exclusive. Open the doors and you’ll be greeted by branded kickplates to denote the model – just in case the outside wasn’t quite clear enough. Once you’ve made your way over those you’ll drop yourself in Sabelt sports seats that look good enough to be feature in a Milan fashion house.

The headrests bear the ‘Abarth’ logo proudly, finished in a sporty red. The back of the seats is just as pleasing to look at as the front as carbon fibre is used liberally, saving 10kg in the process. Not only are the seats visually stunning, but they also serve a purpose to bring down the weight.

It’s not just the seats that have been treated to carbon fibre; said material has also been used on the dash as well the panel for the 5-speed automated manual. The steering wheel, which looks as if it’s never been touched features red stitching – a must for any serious hot hatch – along with red perforated leather, and is finished off with a tricolour centre stripe.

Finishing the 695 Tributo Ferrari ensemble is a plaque at the bottom of the centre console as well as original Tributo Ferrari floor mats, which are in great condition. As well as the special edition goodies, the interior also benefits from electric window, radio, CD player, aux port, air conditioning, and a ‘Sport’ button, which offers 15lb ft more torque.

Mechanical

Although this car has ‘Ferrari’ dubbed at pretty much every corner of the car, the powerplant under the bonnet isn’t the great work of Enzo Ferrari; it is in fact a rather humble 1.4 petrol. However, it’s turbocharged and has been tuned to the song of 178bhp and 184lb ft of torque – plenty for a car that is the same size and weight as a medium-sized dog.

Interestingly, this power is not mated to a 5-speed manual, which is common place in the Abarth models, it is in fact a 5-speed automated manual. The transmission can be left to its own devices, or the paddles can be used on the steering column should you want to take control yourself. Power is still fed to the front wheels, though, which should come as little surprise, and if you wind this car up enough, 62mph can be done in under 7.0 seconds. If the conditions – and laws – allow, this bright red Ferrari tribute will rasp its way to a top speed of 140mph.

As you can see from the photos, the car is very tidy and in great condition. Couple that with the fact it’s practically got delivery miles and a clean MoT for nine months, the new owner will have a fun pocket rocket that is ready to go and should need no work doing to it. The pictures show the underside of the car is also in superb condition and if you look closely, you can even see a sticker on the fuel tank which looks to be unscathed!

History

The Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari was announced in 2010, with just 152 models being made for the right-hand drive market, and production taking place the same year. As well as offering strong performance and numerous nods to Ferrari, the 695 Tributo Ferrari came with extra add-ons such as a car cover, two leather bags, a car cleaning kit, an alloy fuel filler cap plus a Ferrari badged warning triangle!

The example offered here has covered less than 400 miles – yes, you read that right – has an MoT history so clean you could eat your dinner off it, if you could do such a thing, of course. The current MoT is valid until October 2023, and as you can see from the photos, this car is ready to be enjoyed right away, or it would be right at home in a car collection.

Summary

Although you may look at this and think it’s a fair amount of money for such a small car, examples like this will be very hard to find. Not only will this car offer a fun drive, a raspy noise and agile handling, but it also offers its new owner a large piece of exclusivity. Only 152 were made for the right-hand drive market, which already makes this little hot hatch a bit of a motoring unicorn, but it’s covered so few miles, making it almost box fresh.

This car is ready to be enjoyed from the get-go, or for those looking to add to their car collection, this will make a great piece, especially if that collection were to be of a Ferrari theme. It could be a long time until another example of this condition calibre comes up, and if it does, it could well be more money, so this is a great opportunity to own rare pocket rocket that is bound to give you plenty of smile per miles.

The estimate for this Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari is £35,000-£40,000.
